Please note that as of August 17, 2021, NYOS Charter School is still working with Spectrum to get all campus phone lines setup. Due to continued delays from Spectrum, this is still currently in-process.

In the meantime, our main line, 512-583-6967, is a working Google voice line. If receiving a Google notification, this means that our Campus Receptionist is on the phone with another individual or temporarily way from her desk. NYOS is working to get two additional Google voice lines in place so that callers are able to get through more easily. We will send the numbers out when they are available.

The following list provides appropriate individuals who can be contacted via email regarding our 21-22 Campus Plan and more:

At this time, on-campus COVID-19 testing can be made by an appointment only during a limited time frame each day. COVID test appointments for all grade levels (PreK-12th) may take place ONLY with our Secondary Nurse, Dell Knop, on weekdays from 7:15 to 8:15 AM. This time frame for COVID testing allows our nurses to provide additional care for NYOS students outside of providing tests.

To signup for an on-campus COVID-19 test, you MUST complete ALL steps below. The following steps are required for both students AND staff:
  1. Go here to book a 15 minute appointment with Nurse Dell.
  2. Go here to complete the consent form AFTER scheduling your appointment.
  3. On the date and time of your appointment, please check-in at the entrance of NYOS Charter School's Building A (12301 N Lamar Blvd).

We learned much about pandemic disease in the last school year. We know that the virus that causes COVID-19 can infect people of all ages, and schools should do everything feasible to keep students, teachers, staff, and our communities safe. NYOS has a multi-tiered system of strategies to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 on campus.

We recognize that COVID-19 is still present in our community and COVID-19 prevention measures will be in place during the 2021-22 school year. Please note that COVID-19 operational plans are subject to change during the school year based on how the COVID-19 situation evolves in the Austin area.

We look forward to welcoming students back on campus this summer. At the time of writing, the Texas Education Agency does not offer public schools the option to offer at-home learning for students outside of traditional support for home-bound students. With that in mind, NYOS looks forward to seeing our students at school on campus, unless they have symptoms of COVID-19 or test positive for COVID-19. Asynchronous lessons and/or makeup work will be provided to students who need to remain at home.

While it is not possible to eliminate all risks of furthering the spread of COVID-19, the current science suggests there are many steps schools can take to reduce the risks to students, teachers, staff, and their families significantly. NYOS is using information from the TEA School Health Operations Requirements as well as CDC School Settings guidelines, CDC Guidance for Prevention in Schools, American Academy of Pediatrics and Austin Public Health School Guidance.

Vaccines are widely available for individuals 12+ years old. The more eligible students and parents/guardians who get vaccinated, the fewer COVID cases there will be during the school year. NYOS will share information regarding vaccination opportunities as we receive it.

Please go here to view an English version of our plan to reduce the spread of COVID-19 at NYOS Charter School for the 21-22 School Year:
