NYOS Charter School—Not Your Ordinary School—is a free, public charter school that was founded in 1998 by a group of parents who wanted more out of education for their children. It is through a commitment to our students, our staff and our academic excellence that we have been able to grow to serving more than 1,000 students in PreK through 12th grade.

As a tuition-free, public charter school, NYOS receives about $700 less per student in government funding compared to traditional public schools. NYOS Charter School's academic results are substantially higher than those of surrounding schools, and as a charter school, we rely on the support of our school community to continue our commitment of academic success.

Welcome to the NYOS Nurses' Corner!

The care and safety of our students is very important to us at NYOS Charter School.

We are pleased to have Maddy Wood join NYOS as our school nurse! Maddy comes to us after extensive experience as a traveling nurse that held a position in critical care for five years. She worked closely with many physician’s that cared for patients during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. Maddy will not only treat students with illnesses but will also assist in NYOS in ARD meetings and lead our student health services program. We are also thrilled to have LaTasha Johnson continue on our nursing staff this year at NYOS! LaTasha focuses primarily on our Elementary students, and Maddy on our secondary friends. If you need to reach LaTasha, you can
