NYOS Charter School—Not Your Ordinary School—is a free, public charter school that was founded in 1998 by a group of parents who wanted more out of education for their children. It is through a commitment to our students, our staff and our academic excellence that we have been able to grow to serving more than 1,000 students in PreK through 12th grade.

As a tuition-free, public charter school, NYOS receives about $700 less per student in government funding compared to traditional public schools. NYOS Charter School's academic results are substantially higher than those of surrounding schools, and as a charter school, we rely on the support of our school community to continue our commitment of academic success.

Transition

Helping NYOS Charter School students find success after high school

The Next-Steps transition office is dedicated to serving students in 8th through 12th grades in their post-high school planning. We offer an innovative approach to help our students prepare for success after high school.

The office will provide our students with collaborative space to accommodate one on one meetings, group learning and team projects, which are important components of a college or career experience. Through the Next-Steps transition planning, we also expand on options available to students by connecting them with agencies and post-secondary partnerships.
