With yesterday's announcement that Austin-Travis County is now in Stage 4 of COVID-19 risk, we have new regulations in place for NYOS Athletics. These new restrictions are in place to protect all NYOS athletes and to attempt to complete our seasons while limiting the spread of COVID-19.
As of 11/19/2020, all NYOS athletes will be required to wear a mask during all practices and competitions. We will no longer be able to compete against any teams that do not require their athletes to wear masks during competition, and I am in the process of contacting all Athletic Directors and Coaches on our schedules. Please note that there might be some game cancellations, and I will update everyone as I work through the schedule.
Athletes must sanitize their hands when entering and exiting facilities after games and practices, and we will continue to take temperatures upon entry. Masks and sanitizers will be readily available for all athletes. I have spoken with the Regional Director with TCSAAL, and have shared these new NYOS guidelines with him. He will consider this when scheduling any games, and will be in touch if there are any issues.
NYOS will continue to prohibit spectators at all home games and we will provide live stream options for those games and matches. The only individuals allowed inside the gym at this time will be parents who are assisting with volunteer tasks, coaches, and players. Siblings, friends, and parents not assisting with tasks will not be allowed inside.
I have included a copy of the updated NYOS Return to Play Guidelines, and have made note of these new restrictions. The safety of our athletes is of the utmost importance. We are continually reviewing guidelines to ensure that every remains healthy and that NYOS Athletics is doing its part to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. If you have any questions about these new regulations, please reach out to me at any time.
