NYOS Charter School—Not Your Ordinary School—is a free, public charter school that was founded in 1998 by a group of parents who wanted more out of education for their children. It is through a commitment to our students, our staff and our academic excellence that we have been able to grow to serving more than 1,000 students in PreK through 12th grade.

As a tuition-free, public charter school, NYOS receives about $700 less per student in government funding compared to traditional public schools. NYOS Charter School's academic results are substantially higher than those of surrounding schools, and as a charter school, we rely on the support of our school community to continue our commitment of academic success.

Posts

Students worked in their table groups to come up with a list of what
Writing is. They worked really hard and came up with some amazing things.

Team building activity. Students had to work silently in their table groups to build the tallest tower with only paper and tape. It was so much fun and we had a great discussion on how we work together in our groups.

Growth Mindset

Parents here is a great video that talks about growth mindset. We use this a lot in the classroom and this video does a great job explaining the philosophy behind growth mindset. Enjoy!

Welcome Back

Hello students and parents,

I am ready to get to know all of you this school year. We will start school on Tuesday, August 28th.

I would like you to consider using a binder instead of a backpack this school year. We have limited space and we need to be able to roam around the room easily. I will have a spot for your lunchbox if you choose to just use a binder and bring your lunch.
