NYOS Charter School—Not Your Ordinary School—is a free, public charter school that was founded in 1998 by a group of parents who wanted more out of education for their children. It is through a commitment to our students, our staff and our academic excellence that we have been able to grow to serving more than 1,000 students in PreK through 12th grade.

As a tuition-free, public charter school, NYOS receives about $700 less per student in government funding compared to traditional public schools. NYOS Charter School's academic results are substantially higher than those of surrounding schools, and as a charter school, we rely on the support of our school community to continue our commitment of academic success.

On June 7, 2013, more than 200 volunteers JOINED FORCES to build a new playground at the NYOS Charter School Kramer Campus. NYOS was awarded a grant from KaBOOM! Let’s Play after submitting an application defining the school’s commitment to healthy student activities and community engagement.
