Description

This course covers material that is generally taught in a postsecondary, one-semester introductory course in developmental psychology or human development. The course explores the different stages of human life- Prenatal, Infancy, Childhood, Adolescence, Adulthood- and the biological, psychological and social changes occurring in individuals during them. Topics include: theories of development, genetics and development, birth and the neonate, cognitive and brain development, early experience, attachment, motor and language development, social, sex-role and moral development, aging and death.

You will be using an interactive brain map to understand the development of the toddler brain. The age ranges are: • 12-18 months • 18-24 months • 24-36 months. Each of you will be assigned to a group and given an age range. 

You will use the Baby Brain Map interactive feature Baby Brain Map from the Zero to Three Web site to locate information for the assigned age group from the pull- down menu. Record the key points related to brain development on the teaching aid and then share your findings with the other members of your group.

A Pattern for Daily Food Choices, Recommended Dietary Allowances, Dietary Reference Intakes, Food Composition Table or use <> to find nutritional values of foods. Plan a menu that would be appropriate for a pregnant woman; then using the tables, charts, or Web site, list the amounts of the nutrients in each food item.
