Park/Walk & Sibling Pick-Up

Park & Walk is recommended for students who need assistance exiting their vehicle.

  • Park in the first available space on the right or left, whichever comes first. This is important!!

    • It ensures parents park efficiently

    • It ensures you find a spot

    • If all spots are taken, yield to cross traffic. When clear, you may take a left and re-enter the parking lane and try again.

  • Always pause to allow vehicles to exit parking spaces safely

  • Do NOT back into the parking space

  • Enter the parking space with caution, watching for caretakers and students exiting their vehicles

  • Exit opposite side of empty parking spaces

  • When walking: do NOT cross the parking lot. Instead, walk towards the crosswalk to cross safely with the support of the traffic monitor.

Parking

On Campus Parking

Parking spaces are limited on campus. They are indicated in the following image.

Off Campus Park & Walk

Recently, we’ve seen an increase in families using nearby businesses to park and walk their children over to campus. Please take a moment to review the following important reminders:

  • Parking in surrounding business lots is strictly prohibited, even for short periods. These businesses have the right to tow vehicles at the owner's expense.

  • As always, jumping across the rock stream within the south park is prohibited.  Please utilize either of the 2 bridges recently installed to safely cross the stream, instead of jumping across.

  • The ponds within the park are not safe for human contact. Fishing, throwing objects into the water of either the north or the south pond, venturing off the designated walking paths and down into the pond areas or close to the water’s edge is strictly prohibited. For everyone’s safety, children and parents must remain on the path at all times.

  • To discourage lingering in the area, the gates leading to the park will be locked immediately following afternoon dismissal.

  • The Park Central Owners Association has generously allowed families to park along Indian Mound Road during drop-off and pick-up, as long as all standard street parking laws are followed. Please do not double park, block driveways, or obstruct traffic.

Maintaining a positive relationship with the Park Central Owners Association and neighboring businesses is essential and is a strong desire of all parties.  If we are unable to do so, we may be asked to discourage the use of the park area altogether.

Your partnership helps us keep students safe and be good neighbors. Thank you for your attention and cooperation—we’re looking forward to a great year ahead!

** Please take a look at the map. Highlighted in green are the good parking areas and walking path and highlighted in red are the non-parking and no access areas.

Arrival: Dropping Off Your Student

  • Drop students off under the awning in the designated drop-off area

  • Parent volunteers will be available to support and guide students who are entering the building during the first two weeks of school

  • Students may enter through the front office.

  • As soon as your students have been dropped off, please return to your vehicle using the designated crosswalk. (Remember, others are waiting for your spot.)

Dismissal: Elementary Pick-Up

School Dismissal Manager (SDM)

All parents, guardians, and siblings picking up an Elementary student must use the School Dismissal Manager (SDM) app, have an account setup, and be designated as the pick-up person for the day.

Sibling Pick-Up

At NYOS, we are fortunate to have siblings attending our school on the same campus, providing a special privilege for our NYOS families. High School students must proceed to the Elementary pick-up location immediately upon being dismissed from school. It is crucial that all siblings are picked up on time to uphold this privilege for everyone. Students will use the SDM app to pick up their sibling. They should already have an SDM account and be designated as the pick-up person for the day.

For safety reasons, only students 8th grade and above can pick up elementary students.

High School students 8th grade and above should pick up siblings from the side of the Elementary building (south side) by the new playscape BEFORE 4:10 PM (1:00 PM on Friday).

It is a violation of Texas law to park a vehicle in an accessible parking space without displaying the appropriate plate or placard, even if a driver or a passenger of the vehicle has a disability;

  • To park a vehicle in an accessible space when neither the driver nor any passenger has a disability, even if the vehicle displays the appropriate plate or placard;

  • To park a vehicle with a placard or plate that is expired;

  • To park a vehicle with a placard or plate that belongs to someone who is not a driver or a passenger in the vehicle;

  • To lend a parking placard to an individual without a disability who uses that placard to violate state law;

  • To steal or counterfeit a parking placard or license plate;

  • To park a car in such a way that it blocks access to an accessible parking space, an access aisle, or any architectural improvement that provides access for people with disabilities, such as a ramp or a curb cut.
