Driveline Procedures

The Driveline is recommended for students who do NOT need assistance exiting their vehicle. We cannot thank our families enough for your grace, kindness, and patience.

Important General Guidelines

  • No cell phone use in the parking lot during drop-off or pick-up.

  • Form a single line unless otherwise instructed by a traffic monitor

  • Follow traffic monitor directions. They are strategically placed to help you navigate the arrival process

  • NEVER block access to accessible spaces

  • Do not move construction fences in order to access alternative areas of the Elementary building. Fences have been placed in designated areas for the safety of our students, staff, and families.

  • Once students have fully loaded / exited the vehicle, yield to other exiting traffic and exit slowly when clear

  • Drive safely as you exit school grounds

  • When exiting our main campus lot, cars must take a RIGHT TURN ONLY at N Lamar Blvd.

Our Campus & Security Gates

All entrances to our campus are ONE WAY: heading Northbound on Lamar or Westbound on Yager. For detailed instructions on how to access our campus visit our Campus page. Our driveline is secured by gates which automatically open and close at specific times of the day. Check out our Schedules & Early Pick-Up page for a detailed list of start/end times.

Arrival / Drop-Off

Parents are asked to stage for arrival no earlier than 7:15 AM.

Elementary (PreK-5th) or Combined

  • Enter the main NYOS school lot from N Lamar Blvd. The entrance is ONE WAY and can only be accessed from Northbound Lamar.

  • Turn Right which splits into double lane:

    • Left Lane = Park & Walk (see our Park & Walk page in the side navigation bar)

    • Right Lane = Car Line & Accessible Parking Spaces

  • If you have a Middle School student drop them off in the Secondary Drop-Off Zone. NOTE: This is a quick drop-off area! Please be efficient.

  • Once exiting our campus, cars must take a RIGHT TURN ONLY at N Lamar Blvd.
NYOS Driveline Arrival Elementary

Secondary (6th-12th)

If you only have a Middle or High School student you have two options for drop-off.

  • Use the procedures outlined above in our Elementary guide. This option is required if you have both an Elementary and Secondary student.

  • Or drop your students in the MS/HS Drop-Off zones

    • In front of Building A on the corner of Yager and Lamar

    • Between Buildings B and C
NYOS Middle and High School Zones for Drop-Off

Dismissal / Pick-Up

  • Stage for dismissal no earlier than 30 Minutes before dismissal:

    • 2:55 PM (Mon-Thu)       

    • 11:45 AM (Fri)

  • It is HIGHLY recommended that parents with students in both primary and secondary school arrive no earlier than 3:40 PM (12:40 PM) to accommodate for staggered dismissal times.

  • Be prepared to receive your student upon entering the pick-up zone. Preparing means:

    • Enter the drop-off zone slowly

    • Make a full stop

    • Unlock car doors

    • Allow students to load in on the passenger side of the vehicle

    • Encourage students to load in safely and efficiently

Elementary (PreK-5th) or Combined

  • Enter the main NYOS school lot from N Lamar Blvd. The entrance is ONE WAY and can only be accessed from Northbound Lamar.

  • Turn Left and follow around to the North side of the Elementary building.

  • The Driveline has a U-turn curve which you will follow back along past the Elementary building.

  • Once you reach the barriers you will split into two lanes. Both lanes take you to the same place so toss a coin :)

  • Use the School Dismissal Manager (SDM) app to scan the QR Code at one of the signs posted. Check out our SDM page for more information.

  • Secondary students can be picked up from the secondary Drop-Off/Pick-Up zone located on the Southwest corner of the Middle School building (right at the curve). It is HIGHLY recommended that parents with students in both primary and secondary school arrive no earlier than 3:40 PM (12:40 PM) to accommodate for staggered dismissal times. NOTE: This is a quick pick-up area! Please be efficient.

  • At the crosswalk you will merge into a single line again. Follow the drive out the Elementary building and PULL UP AS FAR AS YOU CAN to wait for your student.

  • Once exiting our campus, cars must take a RIGHT TURN ONLY at N Lamar Blvd.
NYOS Elementary Dismissal Driveline

Secondary (6th-12th)

If you only have a Middle or High School student you will pick up your students in the MS/HS Drop-Off zones:

  • In front of Building A on the corner of Yager and Lamar

  • Between Buildings B and C
NYOS Middle and High School Zones for Pick-Up

Basic Driving Courtesies

In addition to responding to signs and directives, we ask that you follow these basic driving courtesies:

  • Under no circumstances should an individual engage in cursing or gesturing with other parents, staff, or students.

  • Do not use the traffic line as a time to talk with your teacher, students, or other parents.

  • Allow potential customers for the retail stores on Yager Lane access to these businesses during times when traffic is stacked up on Yager Lane.

  • Pick up your students at the required times.

  • No student should be picked up on the outside passing lane or street.

  • No student should be picked up or dropped off at the hotels or businesses near our campus facilities.

  • No cell phone use in the parking lot during drop-off or pick-up.

  • Do not pass the school bus while students are loading or unloading.

  • Parents/Guardians are not allowed to queue up more than 30 minutes before dismissal and must remain in their vehicles.

  • Park only in legally marked parking spaces on the school property.

  • No cross-through traffic will be allowed in between buildings.
