NYOS Charter School—Not Your Ordinary School—is a free, public charter school that was founded in 1998 by a group of parents who wanted more out of education for their children. It is through a commitment to our students, our staff and our academic excellence that we have been able to grow to serving more than 1,000 students in PreK through 12th grade.

As a tuition-free, public charter school, NYOS receives about $700 less per student in government funding compared to traditional public schools. NYOS Charter School's academic results are substantially higher than those of surrounding schools, and as a charter school, we rely on the support of our school community to continue our commitment of academic success.

Two BRAND NEW Scholarship Opportunities!

NYOS Juniors and Seniors have two BRAND NEW internal scholarship opportunities, providing a total of FOUR scholarship opportunities:

BRAND NEW! The Women in Leadership Scholarship is a $250 scholarship provided to a female-identifying NYOS Senior who holds one (1) or more leadership roles. Students can go here to apply for this scholarship.

BRAND NEW! The First Generation Student Scholarship is a $250 scholarship provided to a NYOS Senior who is the first in their family to commit to college. Students can go here to apply for this scholarship.

The ChiaChu Chen Scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship provided to a NYOS Junior or Senior who demonstrates hard work, dedication, and determination. Students can go here to apply for this scholarship.

The Adams Scholarship is a $500 scholarship provided to a NYOS Junior to help pay for college visits and/or application fees to colleges, trade schools, or institutes. Students can go here to apply for this scholarship.

The deadline for all scholarships is Friday, May 7th at midnight.
