We are so excited to invite you to our 11th annual NYOS Elementary Literacy Night and Vocabulary Parade on Wednesday, January 28th! Our goal is to highlight the critical importance of reading and a well-developed for lifelong success in high school, college/vocational school, and beyond. At NYOS, we deeply value language instruction and literacy! If you would like to learn some strategies to support vocabulary development at home, we hope you’ll take a look at this article.

On the evening of Wednesday, January 28th, please join us at the elementary campus for an evening of activities, costumes, and a parade! In Building 1, teachers will host fun literacy stations featuring Caldecott Award & Newbery Award Winning books. Caldecott winners are issued by the American Library Association and honor outstanding picture books, while Newbery Awards recognize exceptional chapter books.

Here is the schedule for the evening:
5:00-5:55 p.m. - PK-2nd grade families enjoy teacher-led stations in Building 1
5:55 p.m. - All Students (PK-5th Grade) Line Up for Vocabulary Parade
6:00-6:20 p.m. - Vocabulary Parade for All Students (PK-5th Grade)
6:25-7:15 p.m. - 3rd-5th grade families enjoy teacher-led stations in Building 1
