NYOS Charter School—Not Your Ordinary School—is a free, public charter school that was founded in 1998 by a group of parents who wanted more out of education for their children. It is through a commitment to our students, our staff and our academic excellence that we have been able to grow to serving more than 1,000 students in PreK through 12th grade.

As a tuition-free, public charter school, NYOS receives about $700 less per student in government funding compared to traditional public schools. NYOS Charter School's academic results are substantially higher than those of surrounding schools, and as a charter school, we rely on the support of our school community to continue our commitment of academic success.

NYOS Charter School is participating in an Austin City Council District 1 Candidate Forum on Tuesday, October 2nd from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at KIPP Austin Collegiate (8004 Cameron Rd, Austin, TX 78754).

Sponsored by the Texas Charter Schools Association, this forum will be an opportunity for candidates to share their thoughts on education, specifically with charter school parents. We invite everyone in our NYOS community, and in particular, NYOS parents who live in District 1, to attend this forum! Refreshments will be provided and children's are also welcome.
