In accordance with the recommendation of the Travis County Judge and local Emergency Management officials, NYOS Charter School will be closed for students and staff on April 8,2024. The school administration concluded that our proximity to IH 35 may result in expected traffic gridlock making it extremely difficult and time consuming for staff and parents to get to school for drop off and pick up that day, that it could be impossible for First Responders to access the school for any potential campus emergency in a timely manner, and, most importantly, that our students would be safer at their homes than on our campus that day.
We plan to send instructional materials and safety glasses home with our students in order for them to get the most out of this unique opportunity. Students will not need to make up this day as NYOS has instructional minutes built into the calendar to accommodate closures due to weather or other circumstances.
