Did you know that NYOS families need to volunteer at least 20 hours per school year to help support our school? There are so many ways to volunteer throughout the year: from chaperoning a study trip to assisting with games at Field Day!
NYOS families can sign-up for volunteer opportunities using our new volunteer portal,! All NYOS families given access to this portal have approved background checks.
To begin signing up for volunteer shifts, just follow these steps:
  1. Go here to register a SignUp account.
  2. Select "Start Planning." You're now registered!
  3. After registration, visit the links below to begin signing up for volunteer shifts.
  4. When you check-in at NYOS for your volunteer shift, upon arrival, your driver's license will be swiped within our visitor management platform, SchoolPass. This will allow us to confirm that you have an approved background check for helping out at our school. That's it!
The links below organize volunteer opportunities based on grade level and/or volunteer type (ex. chaperoning a study trip, volunteering in the library, or volunteering assisting with maintenance of our facilities). Please note: Parents are not limited to selecting a volunteer shift that is specific to their child's grade; feel free to select a volunteer shift organized by a PreK teacher, a 12th grade teacher, and everything in between!
