NYOS Charter School—Not Your Ordinary School—is a free, public charter school that was founded in 1998 by a group of parents who wanted more out of education for their children. It is through a commitment to our students, our staff and our academic excellence that we have been able to grow to serving more than 1,000 students in PreK through 12th grade.

As a tuition-free, public charter school, NYOS receives about $700 less per student in government funding compared to traditional public schools. NYOS Charter School's academic results are substantially higher than those of surrounding schools, and as a charter school, we rely on the support of our school community to continue our commitment of academic success.

Our club seeks to expand scientific knowledge through hands-on exploration; areas of interest may include: biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, and geology.

Our goal is to promote scientific awareness through active discussion and hands-on activities (both inside and outside of the classroom). Any area of science is fair game for further exploration. The club is open to students in 8th through 12th grades and anyone with a genuine interest in science is welcome to join. There is no cost to join---just show up!

We will meet Wednesdays after school from 3:50-4:30 PM (these are approximate times). Lets meet in A-104 where students take Chemistry and Environmental Science.
