Ms. Yee's Hub

Diatoms under a microscope

Welcome, students and families!

My name is Ms. Yee (she/her) and I'm so excited to be joining you for a year of science! This is my first year of teaching as well as my first year at NYOS, so we'll all be learning and navigating all this newness together :')

I graduated from UT Austin in 2019 with a bachelor's in Computational Biology and recently completed the UTeach certification program this past school year. I love science because it's cool and highly relatable, and I hope this year that I can help make science a little less daunting and far-removed. Did you know that octopi randomly have the same basic eye structure that humans have, but better because they don't have a blind spot? That's a mood that I didn't have words for before!

I like video games and anime, especially those with character-driven narratives, elements of comedy and psychology, or societal commentary! I play D&D too and I'm more than willing to listen to your stories. Tell me about your hobbies and things that are important to YOU!

I'm a big fan of hands-on and project-based learning, so expect to see a lot of posters, models, etc. coming home. I know that the students at NYOS are SO creative and passionate, and I'm incredibly blessed to be providing opportunities for them to find new content to love. I'm really looking forward to being your teacher this year and hope that I can provide you quality content, support, and advocacy!

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me at cyee@nyos.org if you have any questions, concerns, or things you want to share!
