Hello! Welcome to my new teacher page! I'm Mr. Aguilar. I teach Physics, AP Physics, and UT's signature class, Engineer Your World, at NYOS Charter School.

About Mr. Aguilar

NAME:  Jesús Aguilar-Landaverde

ALIASES:  Mr. Aguilar, Mr. Aguilar-Landaverde, Mr. A, El Profe

ORIGIN: The Colony, Texas

LANGUAGES: English, Español, Français

FAVORITE COLOR:  Green

HOBBIES: Foreign languages, playing with frisbees, finding new music

I received two B.S. degrees from UT Austin in Pure Physics and Astronomy, where I also completed the UTeach Natural Sciences teacher certification program for Mathematics, Physical Science, and Engineering.  I have taught Earth Sciences, Forensic Science, Pre-AP Chemistry, Physics, and Pre-AP physics. I have also tutored math and physics at the AP and university levels. Mathematics and physics have almost never come easily to me. Not until late in high school did I begin to see how everything I ever learned about the two was related. As a physics and engineering teacher, it is my mission to make these two wonderful fields of understanding accessible, relevant, and exciting for all of my students.

Looking for HW? Notes?

Students and Parents,

We will be using the online education platform, Piazza, to facilitate Q&A between teacher-student and student-student collaborative learning. This is a free platform and app developed for college professors that I have adapted for the high school classroom. Therein I post reminders, homework files, notes, and other important ancillary materials. Every student will be registered in my class and should have access. If you would like to receive my regular updates and emails from the platforms, please do not hesitate to contact me at jaguilar@nyos.org so I may add you to my parent forwarding list. Students who cannot access Piazza may contact me so I may enroll them.

Thank You,

Mr. Jesús Aguilar
