NYOS Biology Home Page
The study of Biology is fundamentally based upon the laws of chemistry, and this course will cover not only the organisms and natural systems of Earth, but also the inner workings and chemistry of the cell and biological molecules. The major topics covered will include basic scientific methods and procedures, cell theory, microorganisms, cell processes, genetics, biological evolution by natural selection, taxonomy, and biological systems on every scale (not necessarily in that order).

Assignment Grading Policy: Assignment deadlines are set into place to ensure students remain on pace with the class with concepts and information. These may be individually flexible, with direct communication between teacher and student, prior to a deadline.
• Assignments turned in on the due date may earn up to 100% credit, depending on work quality.
• Assignments not turned in on the due date enter a 3-day “grace period,” during which students can earn up to 70% for the assignment, depending on work quality.
• Beyond three days past the original due date, students may make arrangements through direct communication with the teacher to earn partial credit, depending on work quality.
• Assignments not turned in at all will earn zero credit towards the gradebook.
