Fine Arts Night

Dear NYOS Parents,

Our Fine Arts Night will be held Thursday, April 20th from 5-7 pm in the Kramer Campus Gym.

The evening will feature a gallery of framed student artwork.  Each student will have a piece in the show.  Framed artworks will be sold for $25 to help raise money for our arts program.  Framed works can be purchased with cash or check.  Checks must be written out to NYOS Charter School.  (If you do not purchase your child’s framed artwork, they will get it back without the frame in the following weeks).  If you cannot make Fine Arts Night but want to purchase your child’s art, you can send cash or check to your homeroom teacher or Mrs. Ellis before the show and the framed artwork will be held for you.

Fine Arts Night will feature a work from every child created in art class.  The Art Club has also created works for the gallery.

The night will include music performances by orchestra, steel drums and choir. Spanish Class projects will be displayed.

5th grade Student Council will also be running a fun art activity fundraiser.

We are looking forward to the big night- Hope to see you all there!

Field Day

As you have most likely heard, Field Day is next Thursday. We are representing Samoa and the kids are getting into the Polynesian spirit (thanks, Moana!). We will be watching some exerts from a documentary today and we are hoping to have a chance to interview someone who lives in Samoa next week. Polynesia is a fascinating part of the world and I encourage you to do some research with your family. Did you know they were navigating the open ocean over 3,000 years ago?!
To help with our outfits on Friday we were hoping to have some flower necklaces. You might call them leis, but in Samoan they are called ulas. If you are able to donate leis, please email Ms. Gamble.

Drinks Allowed in the Room

I wanted to send a friendly reminder about our classroom rules concerning sugary drinks. We only allow water in the classroom. This ensures that our students are staying hydrated while also keeping ants out of the room. If you send sports drinks or juice they have to be consumed at lunch or after school. Thank you for you help!
